Getting started
- How quickly can care start?
- We offer same-day referral response. After you contact us we confirm service fit and availability, coordinate with your support team, and begin services once authorisation is in place. For private-pay clients this is usually the fastest route; for waiver and Managed Care Plan clients the timing depends on authorisation.
- Do you take Medicaid, Medicare or waiver funding?
- Yes. We serve private-funded clients, Medicaid beneficiaries through Ohio waiver programs and Managed Care Plans, and Medicare patients for remote care programs such as Chronic Care Management and Behavioral Health Integration. We will confirm what your specific plan covers before care begins.
- What happens on the first call?
- We ask what kind of help is needed, how often, where, and who else is involved: a guardian, an SSA, a case manager or a physician. We do not need medical records on that call. If we are a fit we move to a free in-home assessment for private clients, or we coordinate directly with your support team for waiver and Managed Care Plan clients.
- Is the in-home assessment really free?
- Yes. For private clients we offer a free in-home assessment to build a custom plan. There is no obligation to proceed afterwards.
- Can I choose or change my caregiver?
- Yes. Fit matters more than almost anything else in home care. Tell us what is not working and we will change it. That is part of the service, not a complaint.
DODD waiver services
- Are you a certified DODD provider?
- Yes. Peniel Healthcare Services is a certified Ohio DODD provider offering Homemaker/Personal Care, HPC Transportation, Participant-Directed HPC, Shared Living, Supported Living and Waiver Nursing Delegation, all delivered against the approved Individual Service Plan.
- How do I name Peniel as my provider?
- Tell your SSA, guardian or county board team that you would like Peniel Healthcare Services considered as your provider. Then contact us with basic referral details, and we will confirm service fit, coordinate with your support team, and begin once authorisation is complete.
- What is Participant-Directed HPC?
- Participant-Directed Homemaker/Personal Care gives individuals and families more choice and control over how support is delivered, while still following the approved Individual Service Plan.
- Do you provide Shared Living and Supported Living?
- Yes. Shared Living is home-based support in a safe, stable setting with a family member, caregiver or shared living provider. Supported Living covers daily routines, personal care, household tasks, safety and community access.
- What could delay the start of waiver services?
- Services depend on DODD certification, waiver eligibility, authorisation, staffing availability and the approved Individual Service Plan. We will tell you which of these is outstanding rather than leaving you guessing.
Mental health and remote care
- Where do telehealth appointments happen?
- Anywhere you are, as long as you are located in Ohio at the time of the appointment. Sessions are conducted securely and privately. Call (804) 714-9625 to get started.
- What does telehealth mental health cover?
- Telehealth psychiatry including medication management and assessments, and virtual counseling for individuals, families and couples. Common concerns include adolescent and preteen therapy, family dynamics, mood disorders, medication refills, stress management, social anxiety, relationship issues and parent management training.
- Who qualifies for Behavioral Health Integration?
- BHI is available to Medicare Part B beneficiaries diagnosed with at least one behavioral condition who consent to enrolment. It is managed primarily by the patient's physician or care manager, with support from psychiatric consultants or therapists. Medicare Part B covers up to 80% of the cost, and Medicaid or private insurers may also contribute.
- Who qualifies for Chronic Care Management?
- CCM is a Medicare Part B program for patients managing two or more chronic conditions. Clinical staff dedicate a minimum of 20 minutes per month to each patient. Common qualifying conditions include Alzheimer's and related dementia, cardiovascular disease, COPD, depression, diabetes, hypertension and infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS.
- Can patients leave the CCM program?
- Yes. Patients may opt out at any time, and the provider is required to explain that clearly along with Medicare Part B's 80% coverage and the associated co-pay.
Working with Peniel
- What areas do you cover?
- We serve Butler, Hamilton, Warren, Montgomery, Clermont, Greene, Preble and Miami counties in Ohio, from our office at 3050 Mack Rd, Suite 350, Fairfield, OH 45014. If you are just outside these areas, contact us and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
- Is your care medical or non-medical?
- Our home care services are non-medical: personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders and transportation. Separately we provide nursing-delegated support under appropriate oversight, telehealth psychiatry and counseling, and remote clinical monitoring programs.
- Do you work with Managed Care Plans and physician practices?
- Yes. We meet compliance requirements while improving member outcomes, and we support clinics and practices directly, through telehealth or in-person care, so patients get attention between appointments.
- How are your caregivers screened?
- Caregivers complete a state-approved training program or hold a relevant certificate such as CNA, HHA or STNA, pass a criminal background check and abuse registry clearance, hold current CPR and first aid certification, and complete physical health clearance including immunisations.
- Are you hiring?
- Yes. We hire Personal Care Aides across Cincinnati, Dayton, Eaton, Toledo and surrounding Ohio cities, and we pay a $100 referral gift after 100 days of service. See our careers page to apply.
